Ladies Auxiliary
An Invitation to a Special Experience
Dear Friend:
This is an invitation for you to join
a unique and special organization - that of the Mormon Battalion
Association (for the men) or the
Mormon Battalion Association Auxiliary (for the women). These organizations have a three fold
purpose:
THE MORMON BATTALION IS -
1. A MEMORIAL ORGANIZATION. It is our
desire and purpose to keep alive the memory of those men who marched in the Battalion and
gave so much for so many. We also want to honor the women and families who were left
behind and those who accompanied the men. It is our purpose to not only keep alive the
memory of what they did but to keep alive their spirit of courage, dedication, loyalty,
patriotism and responsibility in a world so much in need of such virtues.
To accomplish this task, we are
marking the graves of the Battalion men and women with a Memorial Marker, marching in
parades, and presenting programs as invited. We also have a Trail Award Program for the
Boy Scouts, and a Buffalo Head neckerchief slide to be awarded to Eagle
Scouts if the family so desires.
2. A HISTORICAL
ORGANIZATION. It is the goal of this organization to gather and
prepare a history on each member who marched in the Battalion, as well as information on
the march itself and it's accomplishments, and to provide museum access
to these histories.
3. A SOCIAL ORGANIZATION.
A meeting is conducted within many of the Companies on a monthly basis
in which food is enjoyed and business and historical reviews are
conducted. it is a time of visiting one with another as well as
accomplishing the tasks at hand. A Battalion Day is held yearly
sponsored by the National Organization. All companies unite together to
enjoy the spirit of all. A trek is also planned and carried out
occasionally on a national level for those who wish to participate. Each
company is also encouraged to plan a local historical trek if desired.
Through these activities, choice and enduring friendships have been
formed while uniting in a common cause.
We are enthusiastic and dedicated to
this organization. It is something near and dear to us that we would like to share with
you. IT IS NOT NECESSARY THAT YOU BE A DIRECT DESCENDANT TO JOIN. WE WELCOME ALL WHO HAVE
A DESIRE TO FURTHER THE GOALS OF THE MORMON BATTALION.
